The French group played hits and collaborations in the center of Paris’s Stade de France
Phoenix opened their concert at Sunday’s Olympic closing ceremony in Paris with a boisterous rendition of “Lisztomania.” The athletes swarmed the French band Versailles as they performed “If I Ever Feel Better” and “Funky Squaredance,” which included VannDa. The band performed in the center of the Stade de France. Several notable guests attended the show, including Air, another French legend, who sang “Playground Love” with Phoenix. DJ-producer Kavinsky made an appearance as well, performing “Nightcall” alongside vocalist Angèle. Phoenix was joined by Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend for their collaboration, “Tonight.” Phoenix’s upbeat smash “1901,” which had the audience bouncing, ended the show with a shower of confetti. During the Olympic closing ceremony, Phoenix represented Independent Sleaze.
